MarkData's origin. Formerly the survey and opinion research centre of the Human Sciences Research Council, founded in 1981 and re-established as a private company in 1996, it is a fully independent marketing and strategic research company.

MarkData is 100% woman-owned and often operates in established consortia with black-owned fieldwork companies.
